CDR is the format of CorelDRAW, a popular illustration program for signs, print and cutting plotters. WMF (Windows Metafile) is the older 16-bit Windows vector format, still used for clip art.

CDR files from most CorelDRAW versions are read; if a file from a very new version does not open, save it in CorelDRAW as an older CDR version or as PDF. Effects that only CorelDRAW can draw – such as some lenses, contours and PowerClips – may be simplified. We cannot write CDR, because only CorelDRAW writes it correctly; CorelDRAW opens SVG, EPS, PDF and AI.
