Which units can I convert?

248 units in 28 measurements: length, weight and mass, temperature, area, volume (including cooking measures), speed, time, pressure, energy, power, force, density, flow rate, torque, angle, frequency, acceleration, data storage and transfer rates, fuel economy, voltage, current, resistance, electric charge, illuminance, radioactivity and radiation doses.

Why can’t I convert kilograms to metres?

Only units that measure the same thing can be converted: a length into another length, a mass into another mass. That is why the converter first asks what you measure and then offers the units of that measurement.

How exact are the results?

The converter uses the official definitions of the units – for example 1 inch is exactly 25.4 mm and 1 pound exactly 0.45359237 kg – and shows up to 10 significant digits. You can round to 0, 2, 4 or 6 decimals instead.

Can I type 5′11″ or 12 lb 3 oz?

Yes. Feet and inches (5′11″, 5 ft 11 in), pounds and ounces (12 lb 3 oz) and stone and pounds (11 st 4 lb) are understood, and results in feet, pounds or stone are also shown that way.

Is anything I type sent to a server?

No. All conversions are calculated in your browser; the page only counts which units were converted, never the values you type.
