About this tool

Cropping removes the outer parts of an image, to improve the composition, remove distractions or fit a required shape. Common ratios are built in: square (1:1) for profile pictures and posts, 16:9 for video thumbnails and widescreen displays, 4:5 for portrait social posts and 9:16 for stories.

The crop area is measured in the image's real pixels, so you can type exact values. The crop box can also be moved and resized with the keyboard: arrow keys move it, Shift moves faster, and Alt with arrow keys resizes it.

Images are cropped in your browser and are not uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping reduce image quality?

Cropping itself doesn't change the remaining pixels. If you save as JPG or WebP, the image is re-compressed at the quality you choose; save as PNG for a lossless result.

How do I crop a perfect square?

Choose “Square (1:1)” in the aspect ratio list. The crop box keeps equal width and height while you move and resize it.

Can I enter exact crop dimensions?

Yes. Type the left and top position and the width and height in pixels. The box on the image updates to match.
