About this tool

A contract to adapt, a CV to update, a report someone only sent as PDF – editing starts with getting the text back into a word processor. This converter reads the text of each page together with its layout: lines are joined into paragraphs, larger and bold lines become real Word headings, numbered and bulleted lines become list paragraphs, and centred lines stay centred. Pictures are cut out of the page and placed where they were.

Scanned pages contain no text, only a picture of it. With OCR switched on, the text of such pages is recognised in your browser in nine languages, so even a scanned letter becomes an editable document. If the document has to look exactly like the original – a form, a certificate, a design – choose Exact layout: every page is placed into Word as a picture.

The whole conversion runs on your device; the PDF is not uploaded. The result is a standard DOCX file that opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Apple Pages and LibreOffice.

Frequently asked questions

Will the Word document look exactly like the PDF?

With Editable text, the content, headings, lists and pictures are kept, but the original fonts and complex layouts (columns, text boxes) become simple paragraphs. Choose Exact layout for an identical look without editable text.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

Yes. Keep “Recognise text on scanned pages” on and choose the language of the text; recognition runs in your browser.

Which programs open the result?

The DOCX opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Apple Pages, LibreOffice and most other word processors.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes. Tap the pages you want or type a range like 1-3, 7.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is sent to our server.
