About this tool
CGM (Computer Graphics Metafile) is an ISO standard for technical drawings, used in aviation, defence and technical documentation. SK is the format of Sketch (later Skencil), a classic open-source vector drawing program for Linux.
This converter turns your CGM file into SK, the right choice for Skencil and old Sketch drawings. Paths, shapes, colours, gradients and text are taken over as vectors, so the SK file stays sharp at any size and can still be edited. Add up to 10 files at once – each one is converted in the background, so you can keep using the site and download every result as soon as it is ready.
Drawings are converted on our server: the upload starts only after you confirm, the original is deleted after conversion and the result is kept for 6 hours unless you delete it sooner.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert CGM to SK?
Choose or drop your CGM file, keep SK as the output and click Convert. After you confirm the upload, our server converts the file and shows the progress; then you download the SK file.
Can I convert several CGM files at once?
Yes. Add up to 10 files at a time. Each gets its own background job with its own progress, and you can download each result as soon as it is finished.
How large can the file be?
Each file can be up to 100 MB.
What happens to my file?
It is uploaded only after you confirm. The original is deleted as soon as the conversion is finished, and the SK file is kept for 6 hours so you can download it – you can delete it yourself at any time.
Is the CGM to SK converter free?
Yes. It is free, without sign-up and without a watermark.
Will the SK file still be a vector drawing?
Yes. Paths, shapes, colours and text stay vectors, so you can scale and edit the result. Effects that SK cannot describe – such as some blends, filters or embedded fonts – may be simplified, so check the result.
