This PDF is password protected

· Enter its password to open it. It stays in your browser.

If you continue, the file is uploaded over an encrypted connection and converted on our server. You can keep using the site meanwhile. The original is deleted as soon as it is converted; the result is kept for 7 days so you can download it, and you can delete it at any time. Files are never shared or used for anything else.

About this tool

Payslips, contracts, medical reports and tax documents should not be readable by anyone who happens to get the file. A password turns the PDF into encrypted data that only opens with that password – in every PDF reader, on every device.

The files are encrypted with AES-256, the strongest method the PDF standard offers. You can also decide what someone may do after opening: print, copy text, edit, comment, fill in forms or change pages. A second password lifts those restrictions for you later. Need a good password? One click suggests a strong, easy-to-type one and shows it so you can note it down.

Several files can be protected with the same password in one go. Everything happens in your browser: neither the files nor the password are sent anywhere, so we could not recover a forgotten password – keep it safe.

Frequently asked questions

How secure is the protection?

The PDF is encrypted with AES-256. With a long, unique password it cannot realistically be opened without that password.

What if I forget the password?

We never see your password or your file, so nobody can recover it. Keep the original file or note the password somewhere safe.

Do restrictions like “no printing” really work?

Most PDF readers respect them, but they are not encryption of the content itself and can be bypassed with special software. Only the password to open truly protects the content.

Can I protect several PDFs at once?

Yes. Add as many files as you like; each gets the same password and settings and you download them separately or as a ZIP.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Encryption happens in your browser and nothing is sent to our server.
