About this tool

Splitting one picture into several is the trick behind Instagram profile grids (one big image across 9 posts) and swipeable panorama carousels, and it is also handy for printing a poster on several sheets or cutting a sprite sheet or comic page into separate images.

Choose a ready-made grid or any number of columns and rows up to 20 × 20. "Make every piece square" crops the edges just enough that all pieces are perfectly square, which is what Instagram grids need. In tile-size mode you set the exact width and height of each piece in pixels; the last row and column take what is left. The preview shows every cut and the number each file will get, and the files can be numbered in Instagram posting order: the last piece is number 1, because the newest post appears top-left.

The pieces keep the original pixels without scaling and are saved in the format of your choice. You get them all as a ZIP and can also download single pieces. Everything happens in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How do I post a 3 × 3 Instagram grid?

Split with 3 × 3 and "Make every piece square", tick the posting-order numbering, and post the files starting with number 1. The last one you post becomes the top-left square.

How do I make a panorama carousel?

Use 3 × 1 (or 2 × 1, 4 × 1 …) and keep "Make every piece square" on, then upload the pieces in order as one carousel post.

Does splitting reduce the quality?

No. The pieces are cut from the original pixels without scaling; only the chosen output format and quality apply.

Can I split by exact pixel size?

Yes. Choose "Tile size in pixels" and set width and height, for example 1080 × 1080. Pieces at the right and bottom edges can be smaller.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is cut by your browser and stays on your device.
