Higher means better sound and a larger file. “Auto” keeps the bitrate of the original (at least 128 kbit/s); from lossless files it uses the format’s high-quality setting.

Pages to convert

Several pages arrive as a ZIP with one image per page.

Shown by e-readers in the library; leave empty to keep what the document says.

PDF/A-2b embeds all fonts so the file looks the same in many years; required by many courts and public offices.

Scales every sheet so it fits on a single page instead of being split across several.

Sheets

CSV and TSV hold one table: with “Every sheet” each sheet becomes its own file, together in a ZIP.

Excel in many European languages expects a semicolon; most other programs a comma.

If you continue, the file is uploaded over an encrypted connection and converted on our server. You can keep using the site meanwhile. The original is deleted as soon as it is converted; the result is kept for 7 days so you can download it, and you can delete it at any time. Files are never shared or used for anything else.

Your files are converted in your browser and are not uploaded. If a file is too large for your browser or in a format it can’t handle, we ask before converting it on our server. About this tool

GIF is an old, universally supported format limited to 256 colours, best known for simple animations. Saving PDF pages as GIF is useful for simple graphics and places that only accept GIF, and wherever a picture is needed instead of a document.

Every page is rendered exactly as a PDF viewer shows it, with text, vector graphics and images, at 72, 150, 300 or 600 DPI. Choose all pages or a selection such as "1-3, 5, 8-"; password-protected PDFs open after you enter the password. Several PDFs can be converted at once; download each page on its own or all pages as a ZIP.

Pages get a white background, just like in a PDF viewer.

GIF can show at most 256 colours, so photos on the pages can look grainy; it suits simple text pages and graphics.

The PDF is opened with pdf.js in your browser and is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Which resolution should I choose for GIF?

150 DPI is sharp on screens and for sharing; 300 DPI is right for printing; 72 DPI gives small previews; 600 DPI is for fine print.

Can I convert only some pages to GIF?

Yes. Type the pages, for example "2", "1-3, 7" or "5-" for page 5 to the end. Leave the field empty for all pages.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

Yes, if you know the password. It is only used by your browser to open the file.

Can I still copy the text from the GIF image?

Not directly: the page becomes a picture. To get the text, use Image to Text (OCR) on the image, or copy it from the PDF itself.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The pages are rendered in your browser and the file stays on your device.
