How to use: Passport Photo Maker
- 1 Take a photo against a plain, light wall, facing the camera, and choose it here.
- 2 Pick the document size, for example Europe 35 × 45 mm or USA 2 × 2 in.
- 3 Zoom and move the photo so the top of the head touches the top line and the chin lies inside the green band.
- 4 Save one photo, or a 10 × 15 cm or A4 print sheet with several copies, and print it at a photo shop or at home.
About this tool
Passport, ID card, driving licence and visa applications need photos of an exact size with the head in an exact position. You can take the photo yourself and prepare it here, then print it for little money as a normal 10 × 15 cm photo print with several copies on one sheet.
Presets cover the common sizes: Europe 35 × 45 mm (EU countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Schengen visas), the United Kingdom, the USA and India (2 × 2 inches), Canada (50 × 70 mm) and China visas, or enter any size in millimetres. Guides show where the top of the head and the chin must be for that document; zoom, move and straighten the photo until it fits. The tool also checks whether the background looks plain and light, as most offices require.
The photo is saved at 300 or 600 DPI with the resolution stored in the file, so it prints at the exact size. Print sheets fit as many copies as possible with thin cut lines. Everything happens in your browser: your portrait is not uploaded anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
Will the office accept a photo made this way?
If the original photo meets the rules (sharp, neutral expression, eyes open, even light, plain light background) and the size and head position match, yes. Requirements differ between countries and change, so always check the current rules of your office.
How do I print the photos at the right size?
Save a "Print sheet 10 × 15 cm" and order a normal 10 × 15 cm (4 × 6 in) photo print, or print at home at 100 % / actual size without "fit to page". Then cut along the lines.
Which size does Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia or Serbia use?
Passports and ID cards in these countries use 35 × 45 mm, like the rest of Europe. Choose the Europe preset.
What does the background check do?
It looks at the areas beside your head and warns if they are not plain white or light grey. It cannot judge everything, such as shadows on the face or glasses reflections.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Cropping and creating the print sheet happen in your browser; the photo stays on your device.
