Lower resolutions reduce file size. The video will not be enlarged.

Bitrate

Higher means better sound and a larger file. “Auto” keeps the bitrate of the original (at least 128 kbit/s); from lossless files it uses the format’s high-quality setting.

Pages to convert

Several pages arrive as a ZIP with one image per page.

Shown by e-readers in the library; leave empty to keep what the document says.

PDF/A-2b embeds all fonts so the file looks the same in many years; required by many courts and public offices.

Scales every sheet so it fits on a single page instead of being split across several.

Sheets

CSV and TSV hold one table: with “Every sheet” each sheet becomes its own file, together in a ZIP.

Excel in many European languages expects a semicolon; most other programs a comma.

If you continue, the file is uploaded over an encrypted connection and converted on our server. You can keep using the site meanwhile. The original is deleted as soon as it is converted; the result is kept for 7 days so you can download it, and you can delete it at any time. Files are never shared or used for anything else.

About this tool

PNG is a lossless format: once an image is saved as PNG, editing and re-saving it never reduces its quality. That makes PNG a good choice when you plan to edit an image further, or when a website or program asks for a PNG file.

Converting a JPG to PNG keeps exactly the pixels you see, but it can't restore detail that JPG compression already removed, and it doesn't make the background transparent. PNG files of photos are also usually larger than the original JPG.

Images are converted in your browser and are not uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the PNG file bigger than my JPG?

PNG compresses images without losing any information, which works very well for graphics but not for photos. A photo saved as PNG is often 3–10 times larger than the JPG. If you need a small file, keep the JPG or use the Image Compressor.

Will converting to PNG improve the image quality?

No. The PNG is an exact copy of the JPG's pixels. It prevents further quality loss from now on, but cannot undo compression that has already happened.

Does the PNG get a transparent background?

No. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG has the same solid background as the original.

Is the photo's orientation kept?

Yes. If your camera stored the photo sideways with an orientation tag, the PNG is saved the right way up, as you see it in the preview.
