Frequently asked questions

Is transparency preserved?

Yes. PNG supports full transparency, so transparent and semi-transparent areas stay exactly as they are in the WebP image.

Why is the PNG larger than the WebP?

WebP files are often compressed with some loss of detail, while PNG stores every pixel without loss. The PNG is an exact copy of what the WebP shows, which usually takes more space.

Can I convert animated WebP files?

The first frame is converted to a still PNG image. The tool tells you when a file is animated.
