Higher means better sound and a larger file. “Auto” keeps the bitrate of the original (at least 128 kbit/s); from lossless files it uses the format’s high-quality setting.

PDF/A-2b embeds all fonts so the file looks the same in many years; required by many courts and public offices.

Scales every sheet so it fits on a single page instead of being split across several.

If you continue, the file is uploaded over an encrypted connection and converted on our server. You can keep using the site meanwhile. The original is deleted as soon as it is converted; the result is kept for 7 days so you can download it, and you can delete it at any time. Files are never shared or used for anything else.

About this tool

JPG files are usually much smaller than PNG files for photos and screenshots with lots of colours, which makes them better for email attachments, uploads with size limits and web pages.

JPG doesn't support transparency. Any transparent areas in your PNG are filled with the background colour you choose, white by default.

Images are converted in your browser and are not uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to a transparent background?

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent and semi-transparent areas are blended onto the background colour you pick before converting. White is the default; choose a colour that matches where the image will be used.

Which quality setting should I use?

Around 85–92 gives files that look identical to the original for most images. Lower values make smaller files but can create visible blocky artefacts, especially around text and sharp edges.

Should I convert logos and screenshots to JPG?

Usually not. Images with sharp edges, text or flat colours often look better and can even be smaller as PNG. JPG works best for photos.
