About this tool

Photos sometimes appear sideways or upside down, especially when they are sent between devices or uploaded to websites that ignore the orientation information cameras store in the file. Rotating the image here fixes the pixels themselves, so it displays correctly everywhere.

The preview shows the image the way it will be saved. Rotations are in steps of 90 degrees, which never loses any part of the image.

Images are rotated in your browser and are not uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my photo look correct on my phone but sideways elsewhere?

Cameras often save photos in one orientation and add a tag saying how to rotate them for display. Some websites and programs ignore that tag. Rotating here saves the pixels the right way up, so the tag is no longer needed.

Does rotating reduce quality?

Saving as PNG is lossless. Saving as JPG or WebP re-compresses the image at the quality you choose; the default of 92 keeps it visually identical.

Can I rotate by a custom angle?

Not at the moment. The tool rotates in 90-degree steps, which covers fixing sideways and upside-down photos without cutting off corners.
