If you continue, the file is uploaded over an encrypted connection and converted on our server. You can keep using the site meanwhile. The original is deleted as soon as it is converted; the result is kept for 7 days so you can download it, and you can delete it at any time. Files are never shared or used for anything else.

About this tool

Animated GIFs play everywhere without a video player: in chats, e-mails, forums, documentation and presentations. They are perfect for short sequences such as a step-by-step demonstration from screenshots, a product shown from several sides, a before/after flip or a funny burst of photos.

Add the frames, put them in order and choose how long each one is shown (from 20 ms for smooth motion to several seconds for a slideshow). The animation can loop forever, play once or repeat a set number of times. "Boomerang" plays the frames forward and then backward for a smooth back-and-forth effect, and "Reverse" flips the order. Frames with different shapes are either shown whole on a background colour or crop-filled; the size is set by the longest side, with presets from 240 to 800 px.

The preview plays the animation live with the exact timing. The GIF is encoded in your browser with a separate 256-colour palette per frame for the best colours GIF allows; nothing is uploaded and there is no watermark.

Frequently asked questions

How fast should the frames change?

For a slideshow 1–2 seconds per frame, for a step-by-step demo about 0.5–1 s, and for smooth motion from a photo burst 50–150 ms.

Why is my GIF file large?

GIF compresses photos poorly. Use a smaller size (e.g. 480 or 320 px), fewer frames or simpler images to make the file smaller.

Why do the colours look a bit grainy?

GIF can show at most 256 colours per frame. Each frame gets its own optimised palette, but smooth gradients in photos can still look slightly grainy.

Can the GIF have a transparent background?

Yes. Tick "Transparent background"; GIF transparency is either fully on or off per pixel, so soft edges get a hard outline.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The GIF is created in your browser and the images stay on your device.
