Files to convert
Your images are processed in your browser and are not uploaded. If a file is too large for your browser or in a format it can’t handle, we ask before converting it on our server. How to use: SVG to WebP
- 1 Choose or drag in one or more SVG files.
- 2 Choose the output size: the drawing's own size, a multiple of it, or an exact width in pixels.
- 3 Adjust the WebP quality if you want smaller or sharper files.
- 4 Click Convert. The gear button next to a file opens its options; files you add afterwards are converted straight away.
- 5 Download the WebP files one by one, or all at once as a ZIP file.
About this tool
SVG is a vector format: it describes shapes instead of pixels, so it stays sharp at any size. Many programs, forms and social networks don't accept SVG files, though. WebP is a modern web format from Google. It makes files much smaller than JPG or PNG at similar quality and supports transparency.
Converting to WebP is useful for faster websites, online shops and blogs. Because an SVG has no fixed pixel size, you choose how large the WebP should be. The drawing is rendered at exactly that size, so it stays sharp. You can also paste SVG code directly instead of choosing a file.
Files are converted in your browser and are not uploaded to a server. If a file is too large for your device, the tool explains why and asks before sending it anywhere. Hidden metadata such as the GPS location is not copied into the WebP.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your own browser, so your files stay on your device. Only if a file is too large for your browser does the tool offer server processing, and it asks you first.
Will I lose quality converting SVG to WebP?
WebP uses lossy compression, so there is a small loss. At the default quality it is very hard to see; choose a higher quality for sharper files or a lower one for smaller files.
How big will the WebP image be?
By default it uses the size written in the SVG (or its viewBox). You can choose 2×, 3×, 4× or 8× that size, or an exact width; the height follows the proportions. The drawing is rendered at that size, so it stays sharp.
Is the image's metadata kept?
No. The WebP is created from the image pixels only, so EXIF data such as the GPS location, camera model and capture time is not copied. This is useful before sharing images online.
