Higher means better sound and a larger file. “Auto” keeps the bitrate of the original (at least 128 kbit/s); from lossless files it uses the format’s high-quality setting.

PDF/A-2b embeds all fonts so the file looks the same in many years; required by many courts and public offices.

Scales every sheet so it fits on a single page instead of being split across several.

Sheets

CSV and TSV hold one table: with “Every sheet” each sheet becomes its own file, together in a ZIP.

If you continue, the file is uploaded over an encrypted connection and converted on our server. You can keep using the site meanwhile. The original is deleted as soon as it is converted; the result is kept for 7 days so you can download it, and you can delete it at any time. Files are never shared or used for anything else.

Your images are processed in your browser and are not uploaded. If a file is too large for your browser or in a format it can’t handle, we ask before converting it on our server. About this tool

HEIC is the format iPhones and iPads use for photos by default. It is efficient but many websites, Windows programs and older devices cannot open it. GIF is an old, universally supported format limited to 256 colours, best known for simple animations.

Converting to GIF is useful for simple graphics and places that only accept GIF. Safari reads HEIC directly; in other browsers the tool downloads a HEIC decoder once (about 0.8 MB) and runs it on your device. Photos are saved upright, as you see them on your phone. GIF can show at most 256 colours, so photos may look slightly grainy; it is best for graphics with few colours.

Files are converted in your browser and are not uploaded to a server. If a file is too large for your device, the tool explains why and asks before sending it anywhere. Hidden metadata such as the GPS location is not copied into the GIF.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your own browser, so your files stay on your device. Only if a file is too large for your browser does the tool offer server processing, and it asks you first.

Will converting to GIF improve the quality?

No. GIF stores the pixels exactly, so no further quality is lost from now on, but it cannot restore detail that the HEIC compression already removed.

Will the GIF have a transparent background?

No. HEIC images have no transparency, so the GIF keeps the same solid background as the original.

How do I stop my iPhone taking HEIC photos?

On the iPhone, open Settings → Camera → Formats and choose “Most Compatible”. New photos are then saved as JPG; existing photos stay HEIC.

Why does the GIF look grainy?

GIF can store at most 256 colours. The tool picks the best 256 for your image, but photos with smooth gradients can still show some banding. For photos, PNG, JPG or WebP is a better choice.

Is the image's metadata kept?

No. The GIF is created from the image pixels only, so EXIF data such as the GPS location, camera model and capture time is not copied. This is useful before sharing images online.
