Your files
Your images are processed in your browser and are not uploaded. If a file is too large for your browser or in a format it can’t handle, we ask before converting it on our server. The original is deleted right after conversion; the result is kept for 7 days for you to download, unless you delete it sooner. Privacy details
How to use: Compress to Target Size
- 1 Enter the size the file must not exceed, or pick one of the common limits.
- 2 Choose the output format: JPG works everywhere, WebP and AVIF give better quality at the same size.
- 3 Leave “reduce the dimensions” on if very small targets should still succeed.
- 4 Choose or drag in your images; each one is compressed as soon as it is added.
- 5 Download the results one by one, or all together as a ZIP file.
About this tool
Job portals, government forms, schools and online shops often accept only images under a certain size, such as 100 KB or 200 KB. Instead of trying quality settings by hand, this tool finds the highest quality that still fits under your limit.
It tries different quality levels and keeps the best one under the target. If even a low quality is still too large, it also reduces the width and height step by step (you can switch this off). The result tells you the final size, the quality used and the new dimensions.
Everything happens in your browser: your photos are not uploaded. Hidden metadata such as the GPS location is removed, which also saves a few kilobytes.
Frequently asked questions
How does the tool reach the exact size?
It encodes the image at different quality levels and keeps the highest one whose file is still under your target. The result is usually a few percent below the limit, never above it.
What if the image cannot get that small?
If even the lowest sensible quality is too large, the tool reduces the dimensions until the file fits. If you switched that off, it tells you to allow resizing or choose a larger target.
Which format should I choose?
JPG is accepted everywhere, so it is the safe choice for forms. WebP and AVIF look noticeably better at the same file size, but check first that the website accepts them.
Is 1 MB 1000 or 1024 KB?
The tool counts 1 KB as 1024 bytes and 1 MB as 1024 KB, as most upload forms do, so a “200 KB” result is safe for a 200 KB limit.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Compression runs in your own browser. Only if a file is too large for your device does the tool offer to process it on our server, and it asks you first.
