About this tool

M2TS is the Blu-ray and AVCHD camcorder format (MPEG transport stream), with high quality and large files. MKA is the audio-only Matroska format; here with lossless FLAC sound, and it can hold chapters.

This converter takes the sound of your M2TS video and saves it as MKA, the right choice for media players such as VLC and Kodi, and archiving – for example the music of a clip, a recorded talk, lecture or interview, or the sound of your own phone videos. The sound keeps its quality by default; under “Options” you can choose the bitrate, mono or stereo, and cut out just the part you need. The picture and the video’s own data (such as the camera or the place it was filmed) are not copied into the audio file.

How do I convert M2TS to MKA?

Can I convert a YouTube video to MKA?

We do not download videos from YouTube or any other website – that is against their terms of use. If you have the video file itself, for example a video you made and downloaded from YouTube Studio, or a clip saved on your phone or computer, drop it here and you get its sound as MKA.

Will the sound keep its quality?

Yes. The sound is converted at high quality: “Auto” keeps the bitrate of the video’s own sound (at least 128 kbit/s). You can choose another bitrate under “Options”.

Can I keep only part of the sound?

Yes. Under “Options” enter a start and/or end time (for example 1:05 and 3:30) and only that part is saved.

How large can the video be?

Each file can be up to 300 MB and 10 hours long, and you can add up to 10 at once.

What happens to my video?

It is uploaded only after you confirm. The video is deleted as soon as the sound is saved, and the MKA file is kept for 7 days unless you delete it sooner.
